The Foreign Ministry compared the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv with a “hellish carousel”

According to Zakharova, arms supplies to Kyiv are not related to military-technical cooperation or the exchange of experience, but are necessary only for the “continuation of bloodshed”

Deliveries of weapons to Kyiv from a number of Western countries have become a “hellish carousel” and necessary to continue the bloodshed in Ukraine. This was stated on Sputnik radio by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“The supply of weapons by the West to Ukraine leads to the death of people. <…> This is not peaceful military-technical cooperation, not an exchange of experience, this is the supply of weapons to the conflict zone to continue the bloodshed,— she said.

In addition, Zakharova said that the Kyiv regime is not interested in people leaving the Azovstal plant surrounded in Mariupol. According to her, the Ukrainian authorities are trying to play for time as much as possible and “manipulate the situation, using the suffering of people.”

Western countries, including the US and the EU, began to increase arms supplies to Ukraine against the background of the Russian military operation. The last time US President Joe Biden announced $800 million in military aid to Kyiv was on April 21. Due to this, Washington is trying to help Kyiv to take the strongest position “both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table,” noted US national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

At the same time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz 19 April announced that the Bundeswehr had exhausted the limit of arms supplies to Ukraine from its reserves. According to Scholz, first of all, Ukraine asked Germany for anti-tank guns and air defense systems, as well as long-range artillery. The chancellor stressed that in the future it would be better to send old Soviet weapons to Ukraine, which the military of this country is familiar with.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the transfer of weapons by Western countries to Ukraine. Russia's ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, called the deliveries “pumped,” expressing confidence that a significant portion of the weapons in Ukraine fall into the hands of “bandits, Nazis, terrorists, and criminals.” The Foreign Ministry warned that convoys with foreign weapons would become targets for the Russian army, and presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries would not prevent Russia from achieving the declared goals of the military operation.

Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24th. The Ministry of Defense says that they strike only at military infrastructure facilities. In response, Ukraine introduced martial law and declared mobilization.
