Up to 100 Ukrainian military made an attempt to break out of the encirclement in Mariupol, but the Russian military with air and artillery strikes stopped it, said the representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.

As a result, up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen were killed, three Ukrainian tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles, and seven vehicles were also destroyed. Another 42 Ukrainian servicemen voluntarily laid down their arms and surrendered, the representative of the Ministry of Defense added.

The Ministry of Defense explained that the decision was dictated by “the most difficult humanitarian situation in certain areas of Mariupol controlled by Ukrainian armed formations”, as well as the fact that “scattered groups of militants of nationalist formations are not subordinate to official Kiev.”

At the same time, earlier the Ministry of Defense claimed that all such proposals from Kyiv were refused.

At the end of March, the DPR announced that they would not let the Ukrainian military out of Mariupol, since, according to the authorities of the republic, they were criminals. “Because they were killing civilians. Yes, we guarantee to keep them alive, but I don’t think we will let them go,— Eduard Basurin, a representative of the People's Militia of the DPR, said.

According to the latest data from Moscow, over the night of April 11-12, precision-guided missiles destroyed an ammunition depot and a protected hangar with Ukrainian aviation equipment at the Starokonstantinov military airfield in the Khmelnytsky region, as well as an ammunition depot near the village of Gavrilovka, Kiev region. Aerospace Forces attacked 32 Ukrainian military facilities, including the Buk-M1 air defense system; and command post. Russian air defense shot down two drones, near Berdyansk and Melitopol.

In total, since the beginning of the operation, according to the Russian side, 130 Ukrainian aircraft, 99 helicopters, 244 anti-aircraft missile systems, 443 unmanned aerial vehicles, 2139 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 241 multiple launch rocket systems, 917 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 2,046 units of special military vehicles.
