Russian armed forces destroyed three Ukrainian aircraft and more than 600 people during a special operation in Ukraine. This was announced at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.

“More than 600 nationalists and 61 units of weapons and military equipment were destroyed. Russian air defense systems shot down three aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the air: one Su-24 in the area of ​​Zmeiny Island, one Su-27 in the area of ​​the village of Ingulets in the Kherson region and one Su-25 in the area of ​​the village of Koshevoye in the Dnepropetrovsk region, — said Konashenkov.

Also, a representative of the Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of 14 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles during the night, including one Bayraktar-TB2; near Zmeiny Island, and the interception of two rockets of the Smerch multiple launch rocket system.


Konashenkov said that aviation equipment was destroyed by high-precision air-based missiles at a military airfield near Kirovograd, in the city of Nikolaev— a large ammunition depot, and in the Zhovtneve— storage of fuel for Ukrainian military equipment. Also, strikes were made on the forward command post of the 17th separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, four areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment, as well as two warehouses of military equipment at a military airfield near Kramatorsk.

Russian operational-tactical and army aviation attacked 93 areas of concentration of manpower and Ukrainian military equipment. “During the night, the missile forces hit two command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an artillery battery in a firing position, as well as two launchers and one transport-loading vehicle of the Tochka-U tactical missile system,” said Konashenkov.

Artillery units attacked 32 command posts, five ammunition depots, 403 strongholds, areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment, as well as 51 positions of Ukrainian artillery.

  • 2,834 tanks and other armored combat vehicles;
  • 325 multiple rocket launchers;
  • 1,306 field artillery pieces and mortars;
  • 2,646 units of special military vehicles.

Ukraine announced the loss of control over Zmeiny Island on February 25, the day after the start of the Russian special operation. Initially, the Ukrainian president reported that the defenders of the Zmeiny Island were killed during shelling and they would be awarded the title of Heroes of Ukraine posthumously. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense later stated that 82 Ukrainian servicemen laid down their arms and voluntarily surrendered to the Russian armed forces. They were promised to be returned to their families after the signing of obligations to refuse to participate in hostilities.

Russia has been conducting a special operation in Ukraine since February 24th. The Ministry of Defense stated that it does not strike at civilian targets.
